I Love the Library!

I've had a library card for about a week and a half.  In that time, I have checked out three books on deep sea life, two on William Morris, one on face painting, two on comic books, and a movie.  This is amazing!  Why didn't I get a library card earlier?

Seriously, people.  And if you're one of those e-book people, you can rent those too! I don't know how that business works.  I'm a paper purist.  But I saw the station.  I know it works.  I love buying books, and I do when I can.  But now I don't have to stop reading because I don't have cash.  If you're lucky enough to have a public library, USE IT!

Thank you for listening to my rant.
Soon, you'll see what I've been putting all this research towards!

  1. I used to work at a library. I'm with you on being a paper purist. The thing that rocked my socks off was Interlibrary Loan. That's where you can request stuff from other libraries that your local library doesn't have. Basically, anything currently selling on Amazon can be in your arms within a few days. OH yeah.

  2. Yes! Interlibrary loans! Pretty much all of the libraries around here are connected, so that's an enormous benefit. But why does it have to take three days to get a book that I could drive half an hour for? I might just drive and get it next time. :)

  3. I worked at the library at my university. The ILL (Inter-library-loan) people told me they shipped over 2,000 pounds of books a week. We were connected to over 30 libraries from Humboldt State to Univ. Nevada Las Vegas. It was a pretty extensive system. But yeah, if you only have to drive 30 minutes to get a book, why bother? :)

  4. It is nice to have all the books you want gathered for you, instead of driving all over the city. I'd like to SAY that's why I did it, but I really don't think it was. haha
